Nana: Fashion has infinite possibilities, and new power is born from it. As a carrier of culture and times, fashion encompasses everything. From trendy to traditional culture, from celebrities, idols to everyone’s daily life, and from West to East, it is our discourse, our power, our time. Through Asian Voice, we hope to spread the local Asian fashion culture to the world by moving cross languages and borders.

In this issue, we welcome PRICKLYCHOLLA, a streetwear brand from Indonesia. It’s the details that make the brand difference. PRICKLYCHOLLA allows passionate and courageous people to express themselves. The design is inspired by every things in daily life, and the casual and simple design carries a high level of control over details. Wear it in everyday and feel something different.

Nana: Could you give us an introduction about PRICKLYCHOLLA?

Intan Khasanah&Danank Afrizals: PRICKLYCHOLLA is here for those who have the passion and courage to express their style in a different way. Comes with a modern style that has been modified with quite “eccentric” details.

Nana: Why did you initially create the brand and name it “PRICKLYCHOLLA”?

Intan Khasanah&Danank Afrizals: This is pretty ridiculous haha ​​back then we didn’t think much of this name getting serious, so we just looked for something we liked to use. That’s because we really like cactus, so the meaning of “pricklycholla” itself is cactus. So, it doesn’t have a deep meaning haha ​​but that name has brought blessings to this day.

Nana: What kind of experiences do you want customers have when they are buying and wearing the cloth from PRICKLYCHOLLA?

Intan Khasanah&Danank Afrizals: I want them to feel something different when using one of our products. Because we choose materials that have separate details and textures. So that’s what I’m hoping it won’t be “casual clothes” when they wear it, because it’s the texture and the detailing that we give it that’s what makes it something different.

Nana: How do you come up and decide on the themes for your collections?

Intan Khasanah&Danank Afrizals: The inspiration comes from anywhere at any time. Even as we watch movies or travel, we can come up with ideas for our next collection and collect those ideas to put together.

Nana: Is it possible to let readers know more about your next collection? If so, what has inspired the theme and the pieces in them?

Intan Khasanah&Danank Afrizals: Of course, the next collection is all about being boldly different among all the same. There will be an “unusual” hoodie for the next collection.

Nana: In what way do you promote the brand? 

Intan Khasanah&Danank Afrizals: In this era, social media is our mainstay to promote our brand and reach our target market.

Nana: Can you tell us about some of the most challenging experiences you have had during the process of building your brand?

Intan Khasanah&Danank Afrizals: The most challenging experience is how to maintain and improve our ideas and quality our brand in this fashion industry.

Nana: Do you have any advice for our readers who are seeking to find a way to build a brand just like “PRICKLYCHOLLA“?
