Nana: Fashion has infinite possibilities, and new power is born from it. As a carrier of culture and times, fashion encompasses everything. From trendy to traditional culture, from celebrities, idols to everyone’s daily life, and from West to East, it is our discourse, our power, our time. Through Asian Voice, we hope to spread the local Asian fashion culture to the world by moving cross languages and borders.

In this issue of ASIAN VOICE, we welcome Miracle Mates, a streetwear brand from Indonesia founded in 2014. The brand is rooted in Indonesian culture, from each season’s design, you can appreciate a different Indonesian styles. The founder, Fadli Maulana Ibrahim has a strong passion for skateboard and streetwear fashion, which serves as a foundation for the brand’s identity.

The name “Miracle” holds meaning as a surprising and welcome event that cannot be explained by natural or scientific laws, often associated with a divine agency. It adds an element of uniqueness and wonder to the brand’s image. Conversely, “Mates” symbolizes the support and collaboration of friends who have played a vital role in bringing the brand to life. Miracle Mates extends its reach beyond clothing and fashion, embodying a broader concept of lifestyle and self-expression.

Nana: Why did you decide to start the brand and named it “Miracle Mates” initially?

Fadli Maulana Ibrahim: The brand’s inception was driven by my deep interest in skateboard and streetwear fashion. The name “Miracle” holds significance as it represents a surprising and welcome event that transcends natural or scientific laws, often attributed to a divine agency. Additionally, “Mates” symbolizes the brand’s collaboration with numerous supportive friends who contributed to its establishment.

Nana: How do you describe Miracle Mates in three words?

Fadli Maulana Ibrahim: Confident, Bold, Authentic.

Nana:What is the lifestyle and values that Miracle Mates wants to show to the world?

Fadli Maulana Ibrahim: Miracle Mates encompasses more than just fashion—it represents a lifestyle that can be embraced with pride. It serves as a means of presenting oneself to the world, particularly in today’s fast-paced environment where human interactions are often fleeting.

Miracle Mates can be likened to instant language.

Nana: How do you come up with every collection?

Fadli Maulana Ibrahim: The inspirations are always from our country Indonesia, and we try to apply those things to our designs and collections.

Nana: Has the brand made an effort to incorporate elements of Indonesian culture into its design? The brand’s promotional imagery, for instance, showcases the captivating natural landscapes and vibrant street scenes of Indonesia.

Fadli Maulana Ibrahim: From our choice of models to the concept behind our photoshoots, and even the designs of our products, we strive to represent the rich cultural heritage of Indonesia.

Nana: Are there any Indonesian street cultures, trends, or music that you would like to recommend to our global readers?

Fadli Maulana Ibrahim: From fashion to music. We highly recommend checking out some talented local musicians from Indonesia who have captured our attention. These artists include Sbplusix, Cito Gakso, Putt Aprill, Alfariizi, and The Couch Club.

Nana: Can you tell us about some of the most challenging experiences you have had during the process of building your brand?

Fadli Maulana Ibrahim: Our group is small so sometimes it can be very busy. But we enjoyed the trust process.

Nana: Do you have any advice for our readers who are seeking to find a way to start their own brand in the streetwear field just like you?

Fadli Maulana Ibrahim: Trust the process and the best possible way to prepare for tomorrow is to concentrate with all your intelligence, all your enthusiasm, on doing today’s work superbly today.
