“We want to propose a more laidback approach to fashion.” Interview with Fiona&Kain, the founders of FFIXXED STUDIOS

FFIXXED STUDIOS was born out of a shared passion for fashion and art when founders Fiona and Kain met in Melbourne before moving to Berlin. What started as an art project soon transformed into a fashion brand, offering “enhanced, everyday essentials.” The brand embraces a laidback yet creative approach to style, appealing to individuals who see fashion as part of a broader creative context. With a focus on sustainability and innovation, FFIXXED STUDIOS encourages personal expression through design that is stylish, fun, and unbound by trends.
Can you share the story how you met and what inspired you to decide to start FFIXXED STUDIOS together?

Fiona&Kain: We were both part of the same scene in Melbourne and knew each other through mutual friends, so pretty ordinary. But we both had plans to move to Berlin, so we moved there together eventually. We had the idea to start FFIXXED as a collaborative project bringing together our shared interests in fashion and art. In the beginning it was more of an art project using materials and processes from fashion, and over time in transformed into a brand.

What kind of lifestyle or message would you like to convey to your customers?

Fiona&Kain: We want to propose a more laidback approach to fashion. We describe the collections as enhanced, everyday essentials, so we encourage the idea that fashion and more importantly personal style is just another way to engage and enhance our everyday experience.

What kind of person do you envision when you think of someone wearing FFIXXED STUDIOS?

Fiona&Kain: We think of someone who understands fashion as part of a wider creative context including art, architecture, product design etc. So someone informed about fashion but not bound by it. Also someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously, someone who is stylish and fun.

What efforts do you think are necessary to ensure that more people recognize the power of Chinese fashion brand?

Fiona&Kain: I think it really depends on whether or not Chinese brands decide to actively engage an international audience. 

What challenges have you faced while building FFIXXED STUDIOS? What advice would you offer to individuals aspiring to establish their own business in the fashion industry?

Fiona&Kain: We’ve been doing this for a long time, so there have been many challenges along the way! At this moment our biggest challenge is evolving the brand to make it more sustainable in terms of remaining creatively interesting for us as designers as well as a business within an evolving fashion ecosystem. As far as advice…really think about what you actually want to achieve with entering the fashion industry.
